If you are traveling this great state, and find yourselves near Telluride, CO, take some time to soak up the sunshine and minerals at this beautiful, clothing optional hot springs, just outside of the small town of Ridgeway, Colorado.
Featuring ten soaking ponds that are filled with natural, lithium spring water, a sauna and outdoor cold shower, the location offers some lovely views, and is close to the town should you want to venture out. Although, with the accommodations, vehicle and tent camping, community kitchen (I cooked a full lamb dinner here once!), main lodge building with snacks and seating, and the two house cats, Wayne and Garth, you might not need to leave the property!
As it is closer to town, the springs can get busy in the daytime, as guests come for a day soak. Don’t worry though, day guests are asked to leave by 9pm, and is then only open to overnight guests, who get 24hr access. The first time I visited I had the entire bottom pool to myself, with only the Milky Way in all her glory to keep me company. I secured myself in a little nook and actually fell asleep a few times in the perfect waters, it was a magical night!
Vehicle camping is in the parking lot adjacent to the main lodge, or I am told there is some parking further along the County Road, past the lodge, although I have not explored this myself….yet. The main lodge also has rooms for rent, but you have your “home” on wheels, right? You’re self contained!
The geography around the Springs is phenomenal. If you haven’t yet explored this area, I highly recommend it. From deep forests to extra-terrestrial, rocky mountain-scapes, you won’t be disappointed by the beauty of it all.
Rent one of our vehicles and make Orvis Hot Springs a destination, or pit stop on your next adventure.
